Midterm Month→I can do better
I just finished my first midterms after a two-year absence from school. Unsurprisingly, I could have managed things better. My time management and scheduling were poor. While I did okay, I could have done better if I had been less stressed, slept more, and maybe even enjoyed it. The first week of October, I had a midterm. Then I spent reading week in bed before another week with a group assignment, a paper, and two more midterms. Juicy, I know.
My main mistake was re-downloading TikTok. I generally have good self-control, except when it comes to scrolling. After the week off, I had planned to spend time that weekend outside and socialize. Therefore, it was essential that I use my time to do school, as my weekend was very busy. I felt this the week of my midterms. I kept wishing I had set aside one more hour to review, or made my flashcards earlier, as planned.
As exams approach, I want to start studying earlier. Another drain on my study time during midterms: I hadn't started papers and group work I meant to tackle during reading week. I also hadn't prepped my space (laundry, room, lunch), which made me feel scatterbrained and less efficient, and led me to spend more money on food than I wanted.
So what can I do better? Well, most importantly, TikTok cannot be part of the equation. Even Instagram uses up too much of my time. During jam-packed weeks, Instagram needs to go too, and sometimes just powering off my phone to avoid distraction while studying is essential.
Secondly, I need to properly prepare my space for a busier week. This means laundry is completed, sheets are changed, and my scrubs are ready and laid out. Instead of taking evening study breaks on my phone, I need to be packing my lunch so I'm not tempted to spend money at school and eat food that will make me rollable.
Thirdly, if I can create flashcards up to a week in advance, I have time to review and really solidify the information in my head. To do this, I need to stay on top of my schedule and make time to work ahead. Also, if possible, it is crucial that assignments are completed and submitted in advance when weeks are looking a little crowded with tests.
my time that don't involve being on my phone, just to avoid being sucked into the stratosphere of light.
How to entertain my brain:
* Organize and clean my room -declutter my closet lowkey
* Walk or run -you've been slacking on this recently
* Make a blog post on a fun topic (how things changed since I left my BGJ)
* Clean the water bottle you just got
* Start planning for birthday and christmas gifts
* Budget slightly
* Use the paper calender I got to plan out my next couple weeks so I can see things better at a glance
